The studio's services
Every intervention starts with a diagnosis. I use stable, reversible materials that can one day be removed without harming the object, following the profession's code of ethics.
Dry cleaningRemoving dust and surface dirt with no water or solvent. Often the first step, sometimes the only one needed.
Water treatment / stain reductionReducing yellowing, foxing and tide lines with water: in a bath, a gel, a poultice or on damp blotting paper.
Tape and adhesive removalRemoving adhesive tape, glues and old repairs which, over time, stain and damage the paper.
Tears fixing / liningMaking a torn sheet whole again with Japanese papers and wheat-starch paste, both reversible. Lining when the paper is too weak.
Gaps filling / retouchingFilling a loss with toned paper cut to its exact shape, then retouching so the eye no longer stops on it.
FlatteningGiving a folded, rolled or cockled sheet back its flatness, by controlled humidification then drying under light pressure.
Antifungal treatmentStopping mould, cleaning the affected areas safely, then understanding and treating the cause.
Consolidation of flaking mediaRe-adhering gouache, pastel or paint that is flaking or turning powdery, before any other treatment.
Conditioning / framingConservation boxes, folders and mounts, framing and custom exhibition supports: protecting the object, and showing it without harm.
Assessment and condition reportsA written, illustrated diagnosis of the condition of an object or a collection, before any decision.
Preventive conservationClimate, light, storage, handling: the measures that avoid the need to restore.
